AstraZeneca

The impact on society of our activities is a fundamental company consideration and we aim to set, promote and maintain high standards of what we call ‘corporate social responsibility’. Earning and maintaining society's trust and confidence is essential to our continued success and we aim to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. We therefore support a wide range of charitable, educational and environmental initiatives.

AstraZenecaIn the UK, AstraZeneca sites have established partnerships with local schools and colleges, enabling personal contact between employees, teachers and young people.
Our main focus is the support of industry/work related aspects of the school curriculum, particularly in science and technology. We aim to be a recognised supporter of science education in schools throughout the UK. We aspire to pro-actively raise awareness of science in everyday life and encourage participation and enthusiasm in pupils through related activities. In Cheshire, local activities include a comprehensive work experience programme and extensive links with 14 local secondary schools, 1 college and over 80 feeder primary schools in the communities around Macclesfield Works and Alderley Park sites.

To achieve this we encourage employees to participate in schools liaison activities, which are viewed as an integral part of Employee Development. Thus we hope that both Education and Business actively benefit from this collaboration. Local communities will get to know us well through such approaches which, again, we believe are rewarding from both perspectives. Young people may then see careers in science-based industries as attractive and interesting and consider us in their career planning.

We believe our links with education are not just important they are fundamental!
