Mentoring - "Friendship with a Purpose"

Take Karen Case who works for the HSBC in Ellesmere Port. Karen was interested in working with young people in secondary schools and she joined the Mentor training programme run by Education Business Plus on behalf of the Education Action Zone.

Having done her two half days training, Karen started mentoring a student at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School. They have been meeting since January 2001 and Karen told us “I feel our meetings have been very positive and that we have both learned different things from each other. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the student and the reward of seeing her achieve her potential and gain confidence has had a positive effect on both me and the school.”
