The Cheshire & Warrington STEM Development Office is the voice of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education in the region. Through its STEM support organisations, educators and business – the STEM Development office provides the stimulation, skills and support for STEM professionals of the future.
What is STEM?
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are subjects that the government has identified as being absolutely critical to the UK’s future prosperity and global competitiveness. We need to boost interest in these areas, harness people’s skills and create a strong supply of highly skilled employees in important, innovative industries. Therefore, it’s crucial that we get more young people fired up by STEM, making sure increasing numbers go on to further and higher education.
In order to support this agenda, the government has set out a vision for more coherent, effective STEM education, reaching out to all learners and offering better support to educators at national and regional level. In the North West that challenge is being grasped by the North West STEM organisation of which Cheshire and Warrington are one of 5 sub-regions providing a powerful voice for STEM in our region.
Educators: the power to inspire
As someone involved in STEM delivery, you have the power to fire young people’s imaginations, helping them on the journey to successful STEM-based careers.
The Cheshire & Warrington STEM Development Office was set up to offer help and support through networking opportunities, motivation and a wealth of resources. By working together to share novel ideas and make education accessible and enjoyable, we can make sure Cheshire & Warrington improves GSCE results in STEM subjects and becomes a more prosperous region for all.
