Connexions Cheshire and Warrington Wins Local STEM Contracts

Connexions Cheshire and Warrington has been awarded the STEMPOINT and SEAs (Science, Engineering Ambassadors) contracts for the Cheshire and Warrington.  The contracts, awarded by STEMNET, will help to develop Young People’s interest and enhance the study of Science, technology, engineering and maths subjects.

The STEMPOINT contract will support schools across the sub-region through the provision of impartial advice and brokerage of a wide range of activities to enhance and enrich delivery of STEM subjects. Through this free service we will build on our current strong relationships to support the delivery of each school’s plans for STEM subjects.

The Science, Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs) contract will facilitate education provider access to a local network of volunteers from a drawn from a wide range of STEM industries in the region.   SEAs voluntarily support a wide range of activities to enthuse Young People about science, technology, engineering and maths.  Able to support Information, Advice and Guidance as well as offering input to many practical events, SEAs can be inspirational role models, showcasing the many exciting career opportunities accessible through the study of STEM subjects.

Andy McIvor, Connexion’s Employer Engagement Manager said “the award of the STEMNET contracts complements our work with schools and young people and offers our clients access to experts from across the STEM sector.  Both contracts will enable us to offer enhanced services to support independent information, advice and guidance and work related learning”.
