Holmes Chapel Work Experience placement

Holmes Chapel Work Experience placement

Jo Jingles helps in the Community

Holmes Chapel High school Year 10 students completed their work experience recently. Jessica Adams not only excelled with her recent work experience by gaining a part time job but gained A* in her music exam which she took a year early.

Pupils have engaged with employers all over Cheshire to participate in the governments work related learning programme ran by Education Business Plus. Jo Jingles East Cheshire has recently agreed to participate in this programme and has been overwhelmed by the commitment and determination shown by the young person during their work experience week.

Alison Wright, the owner of the local Jo Jingles franchise, said “I feel it is important that we can demonstrate to young people the benefits of our music classes.  As an accomplished musician, Jessica was able to see how we interact with young children and their parents through music and dance, introducing basic music theory through our activities. Our fun classes encourage children to develop their self confidence while establishing a love of music.  With Jessica introducing live music in our classes by playing her flute, I hope we have now inspired the children to love music enough to learn an instrument.” Jessica also demonstrated having fun with many other instruments.

Jessica commented on all the new skills she has learnt in the workplace Eg:
• Talking to parent and carers of the children.
• Captivating and maintaining concentration of special needs groups, nurseries, toddler and child minder groups throughout Cheshire and North Staffordshire.
• Promoting summer/ autumn workshop activites
• Taking the register
• Business and administration
• Manual handling of setting up the equipment and clearing away.

Jessica has enjoyed her time with Jo Jingles and is so glad her music skills were enjoyed by all.
