Employers meet for breakfast to discuss support for new Sport and Active Leisure Diploma Jan 21st 2010
Education Business Plus, working with a local consortium consisting of Hartford and Weaver ham High Schools and the Mid Cheshire College organised a Networking breakfast for employers and other organisations working within the Sports and Active Leisure industry. The consortium will be delivering this new diploma to students from September 2010.
About 25 people assembled at the Football Association Building, Moss Farm Leisure Complex for a working breakfast to hear Julia Harries, Director of Sport at Hartford High School, open proceedings with an overview of the new diploma, explaining why it is absolutely crucial that local employers are involved in its delivery.
The Sports and Active Leisure Diploma is very wide ranging and covers businesses as diverse as the NHS, Stadium Designing, Fitness and Play Equipment Manufacture and Maintenance. Representatives from all these organisations and more, were present and took part in discussions about how they could work alongside teaching practitioners to bring both teaching and learning to life.
This breakfast meeting demonstrated partnership working at its very best. As a result, students will be able to learn essential things about this sector and about issues that drive the industry today, how it works and what skills will be needed in the future.
Julia Harries was delighted with event and said: “A big thank you to Education Business Plus. I thought it all went very well and I’ve received a lot of positive feedback and new ideas. I’ll be contacting everyone who came in the near future.”
