Diplomas in South Cheshire

Diplomas in South Cheshire

In South Cheshire two diplomas lines started in September 08 the Engineering and the Society Health and Development diploma.

The schools involved in the Engineering diploma are Brine leas, Malbank and Sir William Stanier.  The students have been regularly attending Reaseheath and South Cheshire college as part of their course, this has allowed the students to access the specialised equipment at the colleges.

Engineering

The engineering students have also been to visit local engineering companies such as Bentley, Jaguar land rover and CHK so they can compare the different companies and learn about how they operate and the requirements for working in the engineering industry.

The Society Health and Development Diploma was taught by Malbank and Shavington High schools.  The students have been given the opportunity to learn
from various different employers including a visit to Leighton Hospital to learn about customer care.

SHD

In January 2009 the schools joined together to take part in a Monitoring and Measuring day, this involved health care practitioners explaining the importance of monitoring and measuring the health of all ages.  The students enjoyed a performance from the case study by South Cheshire college drama students which they used to do a workshop about the importance and use of care plans.

A visit to chester crown courts to observe a court case and learn about the layout of the court has helped students gain an insight into the justice sector.

Employers have also been involved in the communication unit with a baby signing class been held at the school for students to observe.  A visit to Intercare helped students learn about the importance of infection control and hand washing.
